Strong Start

The crew of the Phantom comes to the island, eager to find a home. Bruno hears the call of Hriggala, a being crossing between the Dry Lands of Evermaw and the world. It senses them but another call pulls it away. It is a moving portal to the dark realm.

Secret and Clues

  • The Fireforged are salamanders forged from the sulphur sea thousands of years before the coming of the ghoul imperium.
  • They worship the fire elemental god known as the Kytharax the Flamewreathed . They have an altar to Kytharax with a continually burning effigy of fiery magma (CR 8 – AC DC 15, 136 hp, +7 prof, 54 dpr) (removes any fire resistance and turns immunity into resistance).
  • A Fireborn high priestess to Kytharax named Sulthana Firetouched rules over the eighteen salamanders here in the caverns of Kytharax.
  • Sulthana carries a worm-toothed dagger that acts as a portal key to the geode in the upper temple.
  • The geode in the temple of the Herald leads to the Shadowdark Below the Temple of the Herald is an anchor to the Shadow Realm, a crumbling black geode where people fall through the cracks into the Other Side. It resides in a black underground lake known as the Mother’s Eye in the Shadow Realm.
  • The island on the other side is less dangerous and more hospitable than the Chandelier. A tribe of shadow fey called the Night Children can ferry the survivors to safety in the Shadow Realm.
  • The worm god, Hriggala, is a moving portal between the Dry Lands of Evermaw and the world. With the high priest gone, the worm leaves unsated.
  • The Sulphur sea seems to draw dead gods. It’s something that powers the ghouls here.
  • The Mothers Eye is an antithesis of the Sulphur Sea. it teems with life and life forces
  • The mask of hel has great power here unknown to the ghouls.
